Smarter Chimes and Text-to-Speech Across CasaTunes Rooms

A doorbell chime, a motion alert, and a spoken announcement can arrive within seconds of one another. CasaTunes now handles those requests based on which rooms need to hear them, giving dealers more predictable playback in homes with multiple alerts and automations.

Independent rooms can play independent alerts

A chime in the kitchen no longer has to wait simply because a text-to-speech announcement is playing in a bedroom. When the requested rooms do not overlap and an audio source is available for each, CasaTunes can play both at the same time.

If all eligible audio sources are busy, the new request waits in a queue and starts when a source becomes available.

Shared rooms stay coordinated

When two requests include some of the same rooms, CasaTunes queues them so their audio does not compete in those rooms. Requests are retained and played in order for the rooms they share.

CasaTunes also handles rapid repeat requests for the same set of rooms:

  • If the chime or announcement is identical to one already playing or waiting, CasaTunes skips the duplicate.
  • If a different announcement arrives for the exact same rooms, it can replace the one currently playing when chime preemption is enabled. If preemption is disabled, it waits its turn.

Chimes and text-to-speech use the same coordination rules, including announcements that combine a chime with spoken audio.

Built for everyday installations

CasaTunes continues to prepare the requested rooms for an announcement, pause or interrupt their music as needed, and restore their previous state afterward. Dealers do not need to assign channels or change existing chime and text-to-speech requests to benefit from the new coordination.

The result is a system that can deliver unrelated alerts at once, keep shared rooms clear, and handle bursts of notifications more reliably.
