Overview

CasaTunes makes it easy to play music directly from a USB storage device or permanently import music onto your CasaTunes music server.

When you insert a USB device into your music server, CasaTunes automatically discovers the device and scans it for music. Once the scan is complete, CasaTunes automatically creates a new music collection for the USB device.

Viewing the USB music collection

To view and manage the newly created music collection:

Note: This music collection is temporary and is only available while the USB device remains inserted into the music server.

Importing music from the USB device to the music server

To make the music collection permanent, you must copy the music from the USB device onto the music server.

To copy the music:

CasaTunes will begin copying the music from the USB device onto the music server.

Once the import process is complete, the music collection will remain available even after the USB device is removed.

Deleting a music collection

To delete a music collection from the music server:

  • Open the CasaTunesX App
  • Navigate to:
MENU → Settings → My Music
  • Select the Trash Can icon associated with the music collection you wish to delete.

Deleting the music collection removes the imported music from the CasaTunes music server.

Additional Notes

  • Before importing music, review the size of the music collection and verify that sufficient Disc Cache Available storage exists on the music server for the collection.
  • Large music libraries may take additional time to scan and import.
  • Avoid removing the USB device while music is being copied.
  • Imported music becomes centrally available throughout the CasaTunes multi-room audio system.
  • USB music collections provide a convenient way to quickly add personal music libraries to CasaTunes.
